KEEP - Kerry Earth Education Project

Kerry Earth Education Project at Gortbrack Organic Farm, was formed in 1995. KEEP is an environmental education company that works directly with schools, community groups and special needs groups in the planning and development of sustainable organic garden and native habitat projects. We also host farm tours at Gortbrack demonstrating a broad range of habitats and food production techniques.

Ian McGrigor
Ian McGrigor has been an organic grower for over 30 years, running organic vegetable enterprises and moving into environmental education in 2000. He formed Kerry Earth Education Project with Niamh ni Dhuill in 2000, creating and running ongoing organic gardens in schools. Ian is a Heritage Specialist with the INTO/Heritage in Schools Scheme. Ian also develops and runs sustainable organic garden projects for the HSE in Killarney, Rathmore, Killorglin and Castleisland.

He is a tutor with the Kerry Education Service, teaching FETAC Level 3 and 4 Horticulture, Plant Care and Maintenance and Organic Food. He was instrumental in the development of the Shanakill Rahoonane Community Garden, one of the first community gardens in Ireland. Ian runs training courses in horticulture and local food at Gortbrack Organic Farm and has completed a FETAC Level 6 in Train the Trainer.
